The label inside says "Eduard Heidegger, Linz a.d.O. Landstr.", no date, I suppose made around 1900 to 1920. Heidegger was specialist for guitars, lutes, mandolins, violins and cittern (label inside in german). we have a fine instrument in good condition, cleaned, immediately playable with wonderful sound, but needs some repairs.

It shows wear from the age, and needs some restoration There're crack - one on the middle of instrument. This is a 35 string instrument, with 5 stings on the fret-board and 30 on the main body. About half of strings are missing.

Comes with original case, Christmas colored liner. Also, extra touch on the Bb key, has kind of a Vienna touch to it, which comes in handy for Pipers grip.

In researching this bass originally, we found one that was labeled "Joseph Anton Laske, Prague 1788" and then another near identical bass labeled "Eduard Heidegger, Linz 1877". With nearly a century between the two basses of the same model, what is one to think? Well, the condition of the Linz bass looked far younger than the Prague bass.
